19 Million seniors need daily care to stay in their homes – and that number is expected to double by 2050.
But just 2 million home care workers are tasked with keeping these older Americans cared for in their homes. And with wages so low, along with limitations in public funding, high workforce turnover, and lack of caregiver training makes it nearly impossible right now for there to be enough workers to help these seniors.
That’s why we need a national strategy to address the senior care gap. Failing to do so will result in higher rates of injury and medical complications, higher per capita healthcare costs, and more stress on seniors and their families.
